Workshops

Business Writing Workshops

$500 flat rate for groups of up to a dozen people

My Write to Win workshops show you how to engage and cultivate your readers to empower the action you need. This series includes my most popular workshops.

Cultivating Relationships with Reader-centered Email teaches you how to use the “reader-centered” technique described in the widely used textbook, Technical Communication: A Reader-centered Approach by Paul V Anderson. Learn how to overcome resistance, build trust, and inspire action.

Engaging Readers with Storytelling Techniques teaches you how to use the engagement techniques described in Chip & Dan Heath’s best-selling books Switch and Made to Stick. Capitalize on the human brain’s preference for narrative by imbuing your organization’s communications with vivid descriptions, human interest, and anecdotes.

Persuading Readers with Framing Tactics teaches you how to use the persuasive techniques taught in Communications courses. Learn the same skills that politicians use to dazzle their followers by choosing which details to include and the order in which to present them. By appealing to both readers’ emotions and intellect, framing transforms information into action.

Collaborating with Team Writing teaches you how to combine group dynamics with step-by-step revision techniques to improve message consistency across teams and departments in any organization. Using a positive approach that values each team member’s writing strengths, this workshop also functions as a team building exercise—the perfect activity for professional development retreats.

Whether writing short emails or important letters, Michelle’s course helps ease the writing process with a focussed and efficient approach that gives confidence the message will be understood by the reader. We were very impressed with how Michelle could take what we thought were some of our better e-mails or letters and show us how to make them much more concise and readable.
